Step-by-Step Guides

How to Report an In-Suite Repair Need

Submit maintenance requests directly to your landlord or property management.

  1. Click Requests > New Request.
  2. Select In-Suite Issue and choose the category (e.g. Plumbing, Appliance, Heat).
  3. Describe the repair need and attach photos.
  4. Click Submit Request. Your landlord and building management will be notified immediately.

How to Read Official Building Notices

Notices are official announcements from your council or property management, such as water shutoffs, AGM dates, and bylaw changes. Links in notice emails, push notifications, and the recent-notices strip on your feed open the notice directly.

  1. Open More > Notices to see every notice sent to you, newest first.
  2. Click View Details to read a notice in full.
  3. If a notice asks for acknowledgement (for example, an AGM notice), click Acknowledge to confirm you have received it.
  4. You can also ask eConcierge to acknowledge a notice you have read. A notice about a bylaw complaint against you is acknowledged on the notice itself, because the acknowledgment records that you yourself received it. Acknowledging doesn't change the date your time to respond is counted from.

How to Follow Replies and Reactions to Your Posts

When a neighbour comments on your post, you get a notification on your phone and in Pastrata. When someone replies to your comment, you’re notified too, even if the post isn’t yours. Likes and reactions on a post send you one in-app notification a day, not one per like. You aren’t notified about your own activity, or about someone you’ve blocked or who has blocked you.

  1. Tap the notification to open the Feed at the post.
  2. To turn these off, open your notification settings and change Community.

How to Report a Post or Comment

If something on the community feed breaks your building’s guidelines, report it so a manager can review it. You can report each post or comment once, and up to 10 reports a minute.

  1. On the Feed, open the menu on the post (or the comment) and choose Report.
  2. Pick a reason, or choose Other and describe the issue, then click Submit Report.
  3. When your report has been reviewed, you get a notification and an email saying whether action was taken. To protect everyone’s privacy, it doesn’t share the reviewer’s notes or who posted the content. You can turn these off under Content Moderation in your notification settings.

How to Block a Member

Blocking a member hides their posts, other than announcements, from your feed, and neither of you can start a conversation with the other. They aren’t told. You can’t block someone who manages your building; report their post or comment instead.

  1. On the Feed, open the menu on one of their posts or comments and choose Block User.
  2. Pick a reason, or choose Other and describe it, then confirm.

Key Concepts & Building Policies

Quiet Hours & Common Area Etiquette

Respecting shared living spaces is essential in multi-family buildings. Standard quiet hours (typically 10:00 PM to 8:00 AM) are strictly observed. Check the Bylaws section for specific building rules.
